Sarah Martin is the founder of SM Consulting Group, a CPA-qualified finance leader, Virtual CFO and business advisor with more than 20 years of commercial experience across private, public and not-for-profit sectors.
She has worked across industries including trades, manufacturing, transport, service-based businesses and purpose-led organisations, supporting business owners and leaders through finance, payroll, governance, systems, compliance and change.
But what makes Sarah different is not just what she knows.
It is how she explains it.
Sarah has a way of taking something that feels complicated, stressful or overwhelming and turning it into something people can actually understand and use. Her work sits at the intersection of numbers, structure, people and purpose.

Founder, Virtual CFO & Business Finance Advisor
Sarah leads SMCG’s Virtual CFO, bookkeeping, payroll, Xero, people and culture, governance, project management and business finance advisory services.
She brings together financial strategy, practical business experience, systems knowledge, governance understanding and a genuine love of teaching.
Sarah works with business owners who want more than someone who “does the numbers.”
They want someone who can explain them, organise them and help turn them into clearer decisions.
Mariam Michael
Registered Tax Agent & Compliance Specialist
Mariam Michael is the Managing Director of Tax Club and SMCG’s trusted registered tax agent partner.
With more than 15 years of specialised experience in taxation and compliance, Mariam supports the tax and lodgement side of the hive with care, accuracy and attention to detail.
Where BAS or tax lodgements are required, SMCG works in partnership with Mariam and Tax Club to ensure clients receive compliant support through a registered tax agent.
With Sarah guiding the strategy and Mariam supporting compliance, clients are supported with both the big-picture view and the technical detail.
